The COVID-19 crisis has significantly changed the way we think about daily life, but it has not undermined our resolve to offer the best treatment possible for mental health and addiction.
Being one of the premier independent, not-for-profit psychiatric hospitals in the country takes a dedicated staff, strong board of directors, and ardent supporters like you. Your support is important to our success, so we are eager to keep you informed about Silver Hill.
To that end, welcome to the first edition of Silver Linings. It includes information about the hospital’s past, present, and future, all of which intersect to make this an exciting time to be involved with Silver Hill. Silver Linings will be published periodically to keep you informed of how your support is transforming lives and creating hope for our patients.
In this issue, you will read about some of the amazing people, places, services, and even a couple of patients and families who have benefited from Silver Hill’s programs.
Treating mental health disorders and breaking down
the stigma attached to such illnesses is of paramount importance. Our society is starting to take mental health more seriously, but we have a long way to go. At Silver Hill, our mission is to lead the mental health field in evidence- based, high-quality care. Your support helps us move toward that goal.
I am proud of the progress we have made at Silver Hill, but I am even more excited about our future. The leadership team includes a mix of familiar and new faces, and we have recently adopted a Strategic Foundation that will guide us into the future as we strive to become the leader in mental health care.
To help us reach that goal, two former presidents
Dr. Sigurd Ackerman and Dr. Richard Frances have reunited with Silver Hill as Presidents Emeriti and Senior Medical Advisors to the President. I look forward to working with these esteemed doctors and tapping into their tremendous knowledge of psychiatric medicine and of our history here.
