“As someone who has worked at other psychiatric facilities, I can tell you that the care and caring at Silver Hill stand out in a big way.”

Andre Burey, M.D.

Staff Psychiatrist

“As someone who has worked at other psychiatric facilities, I can tell you that the care and caring at Silver Hill stand out in a big way.”

As Admissions Psychiatrist, Dr. Andre Burey is a calming presence on a stressful day. “I’m the first psychiatrist a patient sees upon arrival at Silver Hill,” says Dr. Burey, “and I’m very aware that a new patient may be feeling vulnerable and nervous about what to expect.”

Dr. Burey says his role is to “set the tone by welcoming new patients and their families, actively listening to their presenting concerns, and providing emotional support to try to elicit preliminary treatment goals.” The information derived from this welcoming process allows Dr. Burey and the Admissions team, to determine the appropriate level of care and treatment program for each patient.

“My hope for those I see in Admissions,” says Dr. Burey, “is that they achieve their mental health goals and then some by the end of the treatment course, and I hope they return to their lives in a better state of health than when they arrived here. I tell each of them that I think Silver Hill is the environment where it’s most likely to happen.”

Dr. Burey is a true believer in the power of Silver Hill to turn lives around. “I’m confident,” he says, “ that patients will find that their experience at Silver Hill greatly eclipses their expectations for psychiatric treatment. Our one campus provides a rare combination of having expert clinicians, emotionally attuned staff of all stripes, and a truly therapeutic and bucolic environment.”
