Deborah Brown, RN, MSN
“Our role in Admissions is to begin an exceptional experience for every patient who comes to Silver Hill.”
Deborah Brown is the positive thinking and problem-solving administrator in charge of a patient’s first contact with Silver Hill. “Our goal,” she explains, “is to partner with each new patient to develop a plan of care that makes this a place of healing and new beginnings for them.”
As Acting Director of Admissions, Ms. Brown is responsible for the operations of the hospital’s call center and Admissions, as well as the scheduling of outpatient appointments.
Because she is a behind-the-scenes administrator working to make an operation run smoothly, Ms. Brown says that many new patients and their families may not see or speak to her. But they all feel the care and concern that guides her decision-making. “I think that most patients and their families have a fear of the unknown,” she observes. “So our protocol is to greet them, attend to their comfort, and then support them through the admission experience by answering their questions and explaining everything that is going to go on.”
Ms. Brown says this open, information-rich process helps put at ease families who are anxious to find help for their loved ones. “They bring their family members to Silver Hill and they are entrusting us to take care of them,” she says. “And that, to me, is a privilege and an honor.”
