“I hope that our patients leave here feeling understood, and cared for, and on the road to feeling the way they want to feel.”
Howard Weiner, MD
“I hope that our patients leave here feeling understood, and cared for, and on the road to feeling the way they want to feel.”
Dr. Howard Weiner is Medical Director of Silver Hill’s Psychiatric Assessment Service. “This new service is an intensive, eight-day residential program,” Dr. Weiner explains. “It is designed for patients suffering with and frustrated by complex disorders that are often resistant to treatment, to help them reach clarity about their diagnosis and to find an effective treatment plan going forward.”
In a dual capacity, Dr. Howard Weiner also provides a vital layer of care for Silver Hill patients by backing up other psychiatrists in various programs when they are away. “I think it’s just tremendously forward looking that Silver Hill has built into its staffing this continuity of care,” says Dr. Weiner.
In either role, Dr. Weiner seeks to make the kind of connection with each of his patients that maximizes healing. “It’s about working together and just leaving the other person feeling understood,” he says. “I want them to know that there’s someone out there who understands what they’re experiencing, because I think it makes all the difference to not feel alone with what they’re struggling with.”
Dr. Weiner feels his empathetic attitude is a part with the overall ethic of the hospital. “I feel very privileged to work at Silver Hill,” he says. “There’s a real intense dedication on the part of the leadership and staff to create an optimum experience for patients, by providing the highest quality of evidence-based care.”
