Mary Case, M.D.
“My hope for people coming to us for help is for today to be the first day of their successful recovery.”
As Attending Psychiatrist for admissions at Silver Hill, Dr. Mary Case is usually the first doctor people see when they come to the hospital for care. “My responsibility,” she explains, “is to welcome you, talk to you about what has brought you here, and get a deep sense of how we can best help you.”
Dr. Case uses the information gathered in initial patient conversations, and in additional conversations with friends, family, outside caregivers and institutions, to form a narrative of what has brought those seeking treatment to this point in their lives. “I get a sense of satisfaction from putting all of these puzzle pieces together to develop an understanding of what is really going on.”
With a clear picture of each new patient’s needs, Dr. Case is able to plan how best to provide treatment. “The admissions assessment informs everything that happens from then on at Silver Hill,” she says. “It sets the tone for which direction your treatment will move after that.”
Dr. Case is a true believer in the power of Silver Hill to help every new patient she admits. “If I had a family member who needed treatment I would want them to come to Silver Hill,” she says. “Our staff is really above and beyond in their level of ability and compassion, and the facility is unparalleled. There are a lot of patients who endorse the view that their lives were changed for the better by Silver Hill.”
