Drs. Maria Muzik and Kate Rosenblum will discuss their work, its results, and invite audience to reflect with them on how to promote health and resilience for families from conception to early childhood with the ultimate goal of improving outcomes across generations. Their work is particularly relevant for clinicians and researchers working with families who are under-resourced and exposed to trauma and adversity. The presenters are both situated in a University-based psychiatry department, yet their program, Zero to Thrive, is grounded in the community with deep community stakeholder collaborations. With community input, Drs. Muzik and Rosenblum co-developed a brief, trauma-informed, culturally tailored, and attachment-theory based menu of parenting and mental health interventions: the Strong Roots Programs. These programs use nature metaphors to bring complex psychological concepts to life. This presentation will showcase the Strong Roots flagship program for new moms, Mom Power, aimed to foster safe, strong, and positive relationships for families from pregnancy to age 6.

As a result of participating in this activity, learners should be able to:
1. Discuss the critical relevance of early relationships for later outcomes
2. Recall at least 2 key protective factors that are core elements of the Strong Roots programs
3. Describe the Tree as a core metaphor for supporting parenting
