“Yale New Haven Health is proud to collaborate with the Steward House at Silver Hill to advance superior quality services for busy, but stressed executives and professionals,” says Michael Holmes, executive vice president and COO Yale New Haven Hospital, who added that the collaboration brings together an excellent mix of resources into one program, for this population.
Petra Pilgrim, M.D., is the director of The Steward House. Dr. Pilgrim is a warm and direct psychiatrist who leads individual and group therapy. She takes a hands-on approach to management.
“I tell all my patients that coming to The Steward House is an investment in themselves,” Dr. Pilgrim says. “It’s a pause from their high-powered lives so they can reset and continue on a path that is more helpful. We see them as complex beings and have a lot of compassion for what they are going through.”
The Steward House is a stately home on Silver Hill’s east campus. It has recently been remodeled and features a pool table, fitness equipment (including a Peloton), an upscale kitchen and patio in the backyard overlooking the woods and the Silvermine River. For privacy purposes, patients may remain in the house for their entire stay at Silver Hill as treatment, meals and exercise are all contained within The Steward House. Patients may also have limited connectivity to their places of work.
Dr. Pilgrim says the amount of individualized therapy sets The Steward House apart from other facilities specializing in the treatment of executives and professionals.
“No one gets this type of access to a psychiatrist at other facilities,” Dr. Pilgrim says. “I’m here and I know my patients. I eat with them. I drink coffee with them. I’m part of the milieu. That constant access to their primary psychiatrist is what makes The Steward House different.”
