Micaela Scully, LCSW
“My impact on patients is through creating as much change, growth and development as possible while they are here.”
Micaela has been an employee of Silver Hill Hospital as a clinical social worker for over a decade. She began working first in the inpatient setting and later to a senior social worker after many years working in our Residential Program. Micaela has worked closely with patients with trauma for her entire career and has been working with psychiatric patients since 2009. She is trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD and managed a trauma track at the hospital before the Trauma Residential Program was developed. She is well versed in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) among multiple other interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and most importantly, dedicates herself to building a safe rapport for effective individual and group psychotherapy.
Suicidality, self-harm, substance abuse, disordered eating, relationships, loss, and attachment distress are just some of the issues she feels extremely confident in supporting individuals and families through. She has also been working with the LGBTQIA+ community and those questioning their sexual or gender identity and their families in hospital, community, and private practice settings for most of her career. She runs an LGBTQIA+ process group on the unit for those who this applies to. Micaela has given grand rounds and continuing education to the hospital as well as provided education to the public on supporting LGBTQIA+ youth as well as LGBTQIA+ competence training for other hospitals and organizations.
