What We Treat
An Environment of Understanding
We focus all the strengths of Silver Hill on building your individual course of treatment. We do it by deeply understanding who you are and what you are struggling with. Everyone is unique. Previous diagnoses may be wrong. One condition can mask another. Medical factors may impact behaviors. We believe that fresh insights lead to fresh outcomes.
Our expert clinicians – including 15 board-certified psychiatrists on staff – working within a collaborative team structure, have the breadth of knowledge and experience to successfully treat a wide variety of conditions and their co-occurring disorders. These capabilities make Silver Hill a leader among private mental health hospitals in Connecticut, the Northeast, and beyond.
We successfully treat this broad array of conditions, both individually and in combination:

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
To address the needs of individuals who have experienced lasting impact from traumatic events and struggle to recover from symptoms of post-traumatic stress, Silver Hill Hospital offers intensive trauma therapy. Through the expert guidance of clinicians trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), an evidence-based PTSD treatment, individuals within the Silver Hill Residential Program have the option of pursuing CPT with a referral from their treatment team.
Patients referred for CPT are educated about the treatment, how it works, and are assessed for readiness by the manager of the program. If ready and appropriate, patients are assigned a CPT therapist. Patients will then work with their additional assigned therapist to identify “stuck points.” Stuck points are places where recovery from trauma is impeded, and often includes self-blame. The other areas of focus include safety, trust, power & control, esteem, and intimacy and how they have been impacted by their trauma history. CPT can be completed in 12 sessions. This makes it possible to complete a course of treatment during a regular Residential program stay by engaging in multiple therapy appointments per week. This service is provided solely based upon assessment and recommendation upon arrival to the hospital and it is an additional cost to an individual’s larger Residential programing.
Psychotic Illnesses
