Not many psychiatric facilities can claim that all its resources are dedicated to patient treatment. That all patients who come here are treated with respect and dignity, and receive the level of care they need, when they need it. That a highly-skilled staff takes a multi-disciplinary approach to treatment in an environment designed to foster recovery. That collaboration with supportive family members and referring clinicians is considered integral to positive outcomes. And we’ve been doing all that for 85 years and counting.
These are some of the qualities that set us apart.

Yale New Haven Health, Silver Hill Hospital and Yale Medicine, the clinical arm of the Yale School of Medicine (YSM), are pleased to announce a new collaboration focused on the treatment of people who, in the course of managing significant executive or professional career responsibilities, have developed serious mental health or substance use problems.
On Monday, November 13, Silver Hill Hospital held its eighth annual fall benefit, the Giving Hope Gala honoring Grammy Award-winning musician Nile Rodgers with the 2017 Visionary Award. The award recognizes an individual who, through personal contributions and action, has inspired others and helped remove the stigma of mental illness or addiction. This year’s inspiring speaker was Kevin Hines, who is one of only 36 people to survive a suicide attempt of jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge and is now actively spreading the message globally of living mentally healthy. The event raised more than $1 million for Silver Hill Hospital’s Patient Financial Aid Fund!
While you may be seeking treatment for addiction, we find that there is often a psychiatric disorder that occurs along with it such as anxiety, depression or bipolar disorder. Our treatment team – which includes five psychiatrists with addiction certification – has the expertise and experience to treat even the most complex presentations.
Our Center for Adolescents offers treatment for teens, ages 13 – 17, who may be struggling with mood disorders, anxiety disorders and co-occurring self-harming behaviors, eating disorders or substance use disorders.
People with eating disorders struggle with their relationship to food. Their preoccupation with weight and food can be an attempt to gain control over their bodies and their lives. But when this preoccupation spirals out of control, it ends up taking over their lives.
The Eating Disorders Center was designed for both men and women suffering from a range of eating disorders and behaviors including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder and body dysmorphic disorder.
