Ryan Flanagan, MD

Director of Resilience Program

Dr. Ryan Flanagan is the Director and Attending Psychiatrist at the Resilience Program at River House, a residential program for patients with personality and mood disorders. The Resilience Program offers evidence-based therapeutic modalities as well as comprehensive medication management.  

Dr. Flanagan, graduated from Gettysburg College and the Georgetown University School of Medicine.  He completed an adult psychiatry residency at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he was the Chief Resident of the inpatient service as a PGY-4 and received the Leo Davidoff Award for Outstanding Achievement in the teaching of medical students.  Dr. Flanagan is a member of the Group for the Advancement of Psychiatry (GAP)  and currently sits on their College Student Committee.  

Dr. Flanagan holds academic appointments at The Frank H Netter School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University and CUNY School of Medicine and runs the psychopharmacology curriculum for students from these institutions when they rotate at Silver Hill. 

Dr. Flanagan is trained in several treatments to help better patients’ mental health including CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic psychotherapy. Additionally, he holds certifications in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT).
