Virtual Grand Rounds: Substance Use Disorders – With a Focus on the Current Understandings, Efficacy, and Risks of Cannabis

Cannabis has been the focus of much scrutiny over the past several years, as more and more states and jurisdictions have enacted legislation allowing medicinal and recreational use of cannabis. We will examine the latest scientific understanding of cannabis, including its potential therapeutic benefits, as well as potential harms. We will also discuss strategies for intervention in cases of cannabis use disorder.

Educational Objectives

As a result of participating in this activity, learners should be able to:

1. Review the currently available evidence for medical cannabis for various medical conditions.
2. Describe the possible risks of cannabis.
3. Review the treatment options for individuals with cannabis use disorder.
