Setting Soft Goals: Alexis Briggie, PhD Weighs In
Alexis Briggie, PhD, Director of Psychology at Silver Hill (at left), is a self-proclaimed lover of SMART Goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-Bound), appreciating the construct that works beautifully for herself and many others, particularly for pursuits in which the end goal can be easily defined: like career milestones, financial targets, or training for a specific event.
Recently, Dr. Briggie weighed in with Real Simple on SOFT Goals (Specific, Optimistic, Flexible, Transitional), identifying situations where they work well, and recognizing that one size doesn’t fit all, all of the time.
