Virtual Grand Rounds: Chatbots as Therapist: Exploring the Intersection of AI and Psychiatry

This presentation aims to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) through the example of chatbots in therapeutic settings. It guides the audience through key milestones in AI’s evolution, particularly in natural language processing (NLP), to explain how chatbots can simulate conversation and provide mental health support. Using chatbots as a tangible example, the presentation demonstrates the practical applications of AI in healthcare while also discussing current limitations and ethical considerations.
