Creating Identity Beyond Neuropsychiatric Brain Disease: The Individual Road to Transformation

This virtual webinar hosted by The Dorm and presented by Silver Hill’s Rocco Marotta, MD, PhD, Lisa Mann, PhD, and Katharine Dougherty, PhD, examines individuals who have moved from fractured psychotic states to a functional and fulfilled life. The presentation is based on interviews and case studies of patients who have developed the ability to reengage with the world after significant and sustained illness. It examines the key elements of their treatment and their subjective experience of this transformational process.
Participants will explore narratives from individuals with lived experience of psychosis, learning what best supported their recovery. Through thematic case presentations informed by ongoing research, participants will gain an understanding of the importance of trust and sustained relationship, patience and perseverance, and the role of shame and stigma in the treatment process.
