Grand Rounds: Cultural Issues that Arise with Patients in Group Therapy
This 90 minute workshop will explore the cultural issues which arise with patients in group therapy. Topics will explore the variety of issues that come up in groups related to gender, sexuality, race, religion, socio-economic status, and other cultural issues.
Educational Objectives:
- Therapists will be educated on the different kinds of cultural issues that may arise with patients, between patients, and between patients and staff in a therapy group.
- Therapists will explore appropriate and effective communications that will facilitate effective culturally sensitive interventions.
- Therapists will have an opportunity to role play culturally sensitive interventions and develop greater skills in working with clients of a diverse cultural nature.
