Virtual Grand Rounds: Pediatric PTSD: Diagnosis, Treatment, and Neurobiology

 Ryan Herringa, MD, PhDPresented by:

Ryan Herringa, MD, PhD

Professor in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health

Pediatric PTSD is common, yet underrecognized, and continues to have limited treatment options. Furthermore, the neurobiology and neurodevelopmental pathways in pediatric PTSD remain poorly characterized. Such knowledge is essential for advancing our understanding and treatment of this debilitating illness in youth. This presentation will review current knowledge about the epidemiology, presentation, and neural substrates of pediatric PTSD. Implications for improved detection, novel treatments, and future research directions will be highlighted.
