RESILIENCE PROGRAM ELEMENTS AND UPDATES
Director: Ryan Flanagan, MD
Program Duration: The Resilience Program at River House is a variable-length treatment program. Following the initial phase of treatment (which also includes medication management and evaluation and lasts approximately 7 – 10 days), diagnostic and medication recommendations for treatment are determined. While the minimum stay is 28 days, many patients are prescribed a longer treatment period.
Assessment Approach: The program utilizes the most current evidenced-based methods for assessing personality pathology, through which we are evaluating domains of functioning as opposed to a categorical approach.
Treatment Modalities: The Resilience Program is composed of several evidence-based therapeutic modalities as well as comprehensive medication management. This approach helps individuals develop skills, techniques, and self-understanding, providing valuable psychoeducation to the patient and family members. Resilience Program modalities include:
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), the core of the program
- Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT)
- Art Therapy and Pet Therapy
- Psychodrama and Drama Therapy
- Good Psychiatric Management (GPM)
- Family Programming
Who the Resilience Program Serves: The program is designed for patients living with personality or mood disorders, such as major depression, bipolar depression, anxiety, and borderline personality disorder with symptoms of self-harm, suicidal ideation, and emotional dysregulation.
