Social Media Use in Adolescents
The Psychiatric Society of Westchester County
invites you to attend
“Social Media Use in Adolescents”
Elizabeth Ortiz-Schwartz, MD, DFAPA, Team Lead of the Adolescent Program at Silver Hill Hospital, will discuss the use of social media in adolescence. Both the positive aspects and the current concerns regarding potentially worsening youth’s mental health. Dr Ortiz-Schwartz will discuss which populations might be more susceptible to the negative effects of social media use.
Dr Ortiz-Schwartz will provide resources for clinicians to assist youth and their families in managing social media use.
At the conclusion, clinicians should be able to:
- Understand the impact of social media use in adolescence.
- Understand the factors that contribute to worsening youth mental health and how social media might play a role in those outcomes.
- Participants will learn about available supports to help and guide patients and families towards more responsible uses on social media.
