Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) has rapidly evolved from a niche research intervention to a widely used, evidence-based treatment for depression, OCD, and other neuropsychiatric conditions. This session will provide an accessible, clinically grounded overview of TMS for practicing psychiatrists and mental health professionals. Participants will learn how TMS works at the neurobiological level, review the key evidence supporting its use, and gain practical insight into patient selection, treatment course, response tracking, and integration with psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy. Real-world cases will illustrate how TMS fits into modern interventional psychiatry and psychiatric continuums of care.

Educational Objectives:

As a result of participating in this activity, you should be able to:

  1. Describe the basic neurophysiological principles and mechanisms of action underlying TMS
  2. Identify appropriate patient populations and diagnostic indications for TMS treatment.
  3. Explain how TMS can be integrated into comprehensive, measurement-based psychiatric care
