SHARE Education

SHARE Education

Every year, SHARE hosts both virtual and in-person educational presentations, workshops, and conferences for clinicians earning continuing education credits and for everyone looking to expand their knowledge across the field.

Virtual Grand Rounds

Silver Hill Hospital’s Virtual Grand Rounds presentations are a no-cost forum for the sharing of knowledge and ideas with providers from all disciplines of mental health. They offer a unique educational experience in which participants earn continuing education credits, learn from experts in the field, and enjoy an opportunity for questions and discussion following each presentation. SHARE’S virtual Grand Rounds are attended by participants across the nation, clinicians and laypersons alike.

CE credit is offered to physicians nationwide and social workers and psychologists in Connecticut and New York. Through partnerships with other organizations, Silver Hill also hosts programs that provide continuing education for other disciplines.

Project Echo and Silver Hill

Project ECHO, or Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes, is a collaborative model that uses video conferencing to connect individuals with specialist teams. The goal of Project ECHO is to improve access to specialty care for underserved communities, and to help providers treat patients with complex conditions. This involves the use of virtual telementoring, case-based learning, and the development of knowledge-sharing networks through a movement to democratize access to medical knowledge. It is now being used across the world to assist in the prevention and treatment of diseases and to augment educational systems. At Silver Hill Hospital, ECHO has been used to work with partners around the nation in several areas.

Resilience ECHO

The ECHO Resilience program is a collaborative initiative, sponsored by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), that connects healthcare professionals with experts and peers to enhance their resilience and well-being. A hub team of experts in resilience from around the nation develops curriculum and leads discussions each week with clinicians focused on various aspects of resilience. Resilience champions from Silver Hill Hospital – Jeff Katzman, MD, Steve Xenakis, MD, Rebecca Murphy, and Sarah Heines – are core members of the hub team. Participants have joined from 45 states and 18 nations.

To participate, please join a session and become part of a supportive learning community. There is no cost to participate.  Sessions are open to all who assist with patient, client, or staff well-being and health care.

Violence Prevention ECHO

The Violence Prevention ECHO is an 8-week, one-hour-per-week virtual program for all health professionals, first responders, public health professionals, legal personnel, and educators. The curriculum is designed to create a community of practice among health providers, increasing knowledge and self-efficacy regarding the multifactorial causes of violence (domestic violence/interpersonal violence/suicide/social determinants of health/environmental justice) and gun safety and provides important communication skills and calls for action.

These programs are based on a model created by Jeff Katzman, MD, and Steve Xenakis, MD, for Project ECHO working with first responders. During the pandemic, the program supported over 600 clinicians in a single call that taught critical resilience skills. The most recent HRSA program has reached over 2,500 providers from multiple fields and disciplines in medicine.

The ECHO Resilience team recently developed a workbook to support the curriculum.  You may download it below (PDF) or purchase in paperback.
